I am interested In finding out if there are conversations happening in Microsoft about the current political regime? How did y’all respond to the Google memogate?

“Billionaire Seahawks owner and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has donated $100,000 to a group aiming to keep Republicans in control of the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Contrary to your eloquent opinion: it seems like political alignments matter as made abundantly clear by the Google Memogate. Some really otherwise ‘smart’ men and women sided with the author of the leaked memo.

So while you might be unaware, this is indeed an important conversation.

I get it. And I’m was not inferring that as well. Was genuinely curious. The diversity of opinions just on this threads is a 👍

Msft is definitely one of the most conservative companies in tech. This donation isn't surprising at all. A lot of the animus for democrats comes from the fact that Obamacare trashed the healthcare plans Msft used to offer, which were among the best in the country.

I've literally never met a trump supporter here. I remember talking to republicans during the election but they didn't support trump.

I had the same experience. Trump supporters are rare here but there are plenty of libertarians and Republicans who disliked the democrats agenda while at the same time refused to support Trump. The Eastside in general is much more right leaning than Seattle but Trump support is still low

I’m not interested in what non-voters believe, because they’re not interested in what they believe ;)

Google is in a liberal bubble, Microsoft is in Redmond, which is fairly moderate. People aren’t going to get up in arms about something like this... even if it was a current leader. This is someone that left decades ago.

I've never met a trump supporter in years of working here.

I tried to meetup with a trump supporter on blind and found out he was a salesperson on east coast. I'm guessing not many engineers are trump supporters in redmond.

That is also a true statement. Both statements are somehow true.... how this is possible is left as an exercise....

Microsoft is liberal in general. There are some conservative employees, a few that have been prominent (like Allen apparently, and the drugstore.com guy, I forget his name). There are tons of internal groups for all manner of liberal causes including gleam, women's groups etc.

It’s very moderate relative to the Bay Area companies

And what proof do you have to validate this assumption? Redmond itself, is fiscally moderate but still socially very liberal.

Personal experience in both. Redmond and Microsoft just don’t compare to what the Bay Area has become. There is still some semblance of common sense there.

Yes, the conversations are that we hope in the future he can continue donating more and more. God bless the Republicans, Trump, other four years of Trump, and the next Republican candidate.
