One of the many problems with Huawei is that we use them for our vital infrastructure. If they want to turn off our communication systems after a big catastrophic event, they would be able to do that.

Imagine China turning off our infrastructure at will remotely, currently they can.

You’re really trying to spin this? Go rat hole somewhere else. Not interested in your kabuki theatre. Only crystal clear issue here is we don’t want to be more vulnerable to a foreign power than we need to be. If you want to preach rights, go ranting on a street corner. We’ve got plenty of those folks to remind us daily.

One day you’ll grow up and realize how the world works and focus on local issues that actually matter and drop the purity act on things you have no control over.

Unless of course you’re trying to convince us that it’s okay to use China’s shit. In which case I would re-examine your claim of how idiots think.

Not pushing my buttons. But here’s free advice. Don’t ignore valid arguments and insult people when your objective is to end the convo. Not a strong track record with that strategy. Adios.

There are way too many reasons for that ban. It comes just few years later than it should. A company built on stolen technology complaints about unfair treatment. What an irony

Respect for intellectual property is not a value that is widely held by the Chinese. The Chinese will steal ideas from their own for fuck sake.. Yet another reason for tension between the west & Beijing...

It doesn’t make any sense from a military perspective to allow vital US systems to be manufactured in/by China.

US & its allies share secrets and the secrets can’t be exchanged on a 5G built by the Chinese.

Cisco, you’re so naive and living in 1990. These days it’s a penetration war on who can develop better spyware. It’s not they can spy by Huwaei product. Please go talk to your Cisco group Talos and educate yourself on how next generation spy is working and stealing “secrets”

I personally don’t think huawei at this point would spy on us when their focus is to disrupt the market with their super low price equipment. The German has audited it and it is safer than US based equipment, and us is caught spying on German based on wikileak.

The problem that causes the ban is their equipment is too cheap and will make cisco and sony erickson out of businesses. The carrier equipment market is very geo political just like the aerospace.

Huawei used to steal cisco stuff, but cisco is so behind huawei don’t need to steal from them anymore. It is all between qualcomm, samsung, and huawei now.

I think huawei is totally expecting not to get any business in the us to begin with. Trump is just playing the us against china card.

You don't get the point. U.S. won't be able to spy on Euroupe countries with Huawei device. This is the deal breaker. All other reasons are shit.

It's a pure business. I don't see OP getting all stirred up when China banned fb Google and almost all social media so that they can control who can and who can't speak against the govt. It's not a fair competition if you block someone. But hey, the more you look at the world, the more you will see there are lot of loopholes everywhere.

You mean the companies who benefit from Huawei being state-subsidized are against ending those state subsidies? Might as well cite the airlines for being upset when the Us files WTO complaints against EADS.

All of the companies you mention benefit from Huawei getting subsidies from the Chinese government. I don’t really value their opinion when it comes to justifying the ban on Huawei.

Huawei's main "espionage" play can't be prevented. It's the cheapest network backhaul by a long distance for most of the rest of the world. This is their IT Belt and Road. Only the US and parts of Western Europe can afford to go with alternatives. This also means encryption by default needs to be the norm.

The frontier and emerging world gets fucked by this. Expect China to dominate Africa and Asia through the physical and network Belt and Road

      Plans for fighter jets stolen

It's not the first time Huawei has been accused of stealing intellectual property. The company has been involved in previous civil suits with Motorola and Cisco. In all cases, Huawei has denied any wrongdoing.
