From HFT(High frequency trading) to FAANG

New / Eng HFT

How relevant will my experience be as a developer in HFT firm (hard-core C++ dev) at FAANG companies?

Will FAANG even consider hiring me?

Edit: Added abbreviation for HFT since someone commented they didn't know the term.

When you say HFT, it means that you are transacting the data and executing the commands without any latency. I gave order to buy share at 10.23 and I am expecting system to execute it immediately. Not at 10.25 or 10.27.

Customers expect same kind of interaction with cloud as well. I am backing up data in cloud and purging the same in my production application. Now, user want to view the data which is backed up in the cloud or may be run some analytics. Here the transaction and execution is real time.

Ultra low latency can probably apply to infra work at large tech companies like Google and Facebook. Mainly, where performance matters. In addition to latency, they would probably look for scalability. If your experience covers these 2, then I would say go for it.
