Gave iPhone one more chance, regret the decision

Thought very hard about switching to Pixel2 but I have so many notes/health data/reminders on Apple’s proprietary apps that I decided to stay and get the X (plus Portrait mode seems to look better). Biggest frustration right now -When I try to turn off WiFi it automatically turns back on. There’s nothing more frustrating than switching a toggle to off and watching it bounce back to on. The WiFi network pop-up disrupts my user flow, and I just want to turn WiFi off so I can use LTE. It always tries to connect to public networks that don’t actually work or need additional log-in/sign-in and renders my phone useless until I move out of that WiFi zone. I just want my phone to run on data and not get disrupted.
I went to submit feedback to Apple and there’s not even iOS 11.4 in their feedback tool yet..
can anyone from Apple get on this WiFi issue

I can see the toggle but it’s unresponsive and with a long press it glitches

I’ve not heard of that. Try hard restarting the phone. If not, take it to an Apple store and they’ll give you a new phone

Googled around a bit, and it seems you’re like the only person to hit the issue. Luck you

Bring it to the store and they’ll likely give you a new one - Apple customer care is pretty good.

Can’t you just go to settings and either disable auto connecting or disable WiFi all together (not from control center)?

Nope that toggle is unresponsive or glitches. Same thing on my 6s, which is why I got an X in the first place, and it’s the same problem

Settings->Reset->Reset network settings should do the trick.

Maybe you have some non-default setting or combination of settings causing this? And you transferred them over from the old phone when setting it up from your backup? That’s the only thing I can think of.

Or you have lots of “saved” WiFi networks that are configured to auto-join. You can go to those and select “forget network”.

If you have you have auto join on your phone will try to auto connect to a known network after a day (I think) after you switch off WiFi from control center.

Could you go to Apple store and show it to them? You should get replacement.

We monitor user feedbacks, I personally haven’t seen it.

What carrier are you on? Some cheaper carriers force you to use WiFi whenever it’s available instead of LTE

Yea, some of the cheaper carriers do this to save costs and bring prices down. All calls and messages go through WiFi whenever possible to minimize network usage.

Thanks everyone for the advice on WiFi! The other biggest pain point is Photos - their search/Photos app pales in comparison to Google photos and every time I try to access a photo in iCloud it says download failed. Anyone else experience this issue? So frustrating because I’m paying $2.99/month for iCloud storage but I can’t access my photos

That does sound annoying. I'm still on iOS 9 because it works and isn't buggy. I'm tired of their breaking updates and random crap they keep changing. I too keep wifi off 99% of the time for the same exact reasons
