Why is today a national day of mourning for a one term president? We shut down all stock, bond and commodity exchanges. While we have the deepest sympathies for the loss, why is this a national holiday for financial markets?
Yeah. It's bizarre. Coming from a different country, I was surprised!
Mourning past leaders is by the law in most countries. Nothing different about the US in this.
Eh I don't really have a problem with it there are not many presidents, it's not like we are going to have a president drop dead every other week. It's significant it's a nice sign of respect. It isn't ruining anyone's lives.
OP your company celebrated a black nationalist communist who praised bin Laden after 9/11 and called America the #1 enemy of the world. Work on your own judgment of character before questioning others.
Who is that?
Yuri Kochiyama. Google made a doodle of her for her birthday several years after she passed away
This man served the country for many years, since his time in WWII. One day of mourning someone who was willing to sacrifice his life for us isn’t going to hurt. It’s actually nice to see the country united and not bickering for once.
After yesterday’s routing a pause seems like a god thing no matter the reason.
Divisive OP is divisive. I am from another country and no this does not feel weird. Raised eyebrow for a minute but realized soon after that the man has done a lot for the country. So what’s the big deal with one day of financial shutdown..nothing really just an insignificant dust in the big scheme of things. OP just wants to feel outraged I guess
it's not a national holiday dumbshit
Calm down son. It's a holiday for the financial markets.
Out of touch Global neoliberal open borders elites so desperate and jealous that they will honor an ex-CIA director neocon Republican to spite the current sitting president who was a Democrat most of his life.
Because people who have the authority to declare it as such chose to. EOS.
That’s messed up. We don’t mourn similarly after mass shootings, national disasters or keep markets shut on 9/11. Where’s the accountability!
I think markets were shut down multiple days after 9/11.
