This is frustrating. I have had 2 onsites with FAANG companies with no offers. For some reason other companies are just not interested to even do an initial interview. I don’t get why this is so. Honestly I am not smart enough for FAANG yet and would prefer to interview at other great companies like Dell, Mathworks, Msft (still might be a reach for me). I feel I would have better chance at landing a job at those companies. Can anyone give some advise how to just get an initial interview opportunity for entry-level engineering jobs at these companies? Yoe 1. TC: 88K (East coast)
Just send job IDs and your resume to recruiters on linkedin. I’ve done it for Apple and had a few recruiters push my resume out to the respective recruiters for the jobs, and even landed a few interviews that way.
I can refer for c1, we're mostly east coast based
I'm also looking for referral, Can you dm me for Cap1?
I would love to work for c1. However I only have just under 1 yoe. Let me see if I find any entry level positions hiring currently and get back to you. Thanks 🙏🏼
LinkedIn >>> Microsoft Better brand, better comp, better benefits while getting RSU of a strong company stock & similar WLB as MS. Best of both worlds.
Often times FAANG will interview anyone that seems even remotely like a good fit because they have the $ to do so. Smaller companies are actually more picky at the screening stages. Maybe your resume needs to be improved?
This ^^. This is exactly why smaller ones are picky. FANGs have the resources and the money to conduct many interviews for the same position.
I would reach out to a connection at the company on LinkedIn. That’s how I got an interview at Amazon two years ago. I’m also on the east coast.
I had a somewhat similar experience right out of college. My degree was unconventional (Cognitive Science) and found that smaller companies, especially local firms weren't willing to gamble on me. Bigger companies just threw coding challenges at me and I had no problem getting through there - maybe there's something you can do to your resume to target smaller companies?
Referrals is a good way

Does msft really pay this low?
Go for MS hiring event
This is how I got my onsite for microsoft in March! Their online tests are kinda tricky (definitely easier than Amazon’s online tests).
Curious what position you went for at Microsoft? SAP workload is in demand with Azure. Do you know cloud? I would learn Azure, pass AZ 300 /301 certifications and then try for MS again as a cloud solution architect specializing in SAP
