What’s the benefits of becoming a US citizen other than being able to vote and perhaps getting a US passport which means fewer visas needed when traveling? Can I just keep renewing my GC indefinitely?
Voting right is more important than you think.
Well given the current immigration environment, no idea on what impacts to GC will happen. So it may impact your work as well. Better to get the whole uscis thing done and not bother with it at all.
Are you from a country that supports dual citizenship? What benefit do you have from your country, that you do not get in the US?
You have the benefit of having to do jury duty
In the same boat. For me, ease of travel to various countries is a sufficient benefit to get citizenship.
Get your citizenship before Trump decides to change the rules on GC to Citizenship windows and approval
Trump won’t be able to do it by decree. That’s a law change. There’ll be notice. When he spouts off on Twitter about changing anything, then apply for nationalization.
Big benefit of getting citizenship is being able to leave the country for more than six months. As a GC holder you probably have ties to another country and the option of bouncing between them is nice to have.
Seriously? It amazes me that you’re not jumping to be a part of the greatest country in the world now that it’s “easy” for you to start the process.
Consider world income and being forever tied to sending tax dollars to the IRS if you become a US citizen, no matter where you live and work in the future.
U can. Why not?
