When a company sponsors permanent residency to its employee, they are required to advertise the job in the US to prove that they couldn't find a local candidate suitable for the position. IIRC, there are few local newspapers that nobody reads that's used by big companies including Google, MS, etc... Does anyone know if it's easier to get interviews in that way? From my understanding, the companies have to legally prove that all the local candidates are not suitable for the job.
Oh boi, I remember a guy who wrote the job description himself for such ad. It was hilarious to read. The perfect candidate would have to have strong experience with Erlang, AWS, JavaScript, Perl and a bunch of other unrelated stuff. There was no way in the world to fill such position 😂
I found that mine was advertised on both LinkedIn and glassdoor, among other places. My manager showed me the resumes that he got for that 'open position'. They also had ads in some local papers, forgot which ones. I just remember the LinkedIn and glassdoor since I was actually surprised that they had put ads there.
Do you know what happened to the other applicants? Any interviews, etc?
Yes he told he had to interview them. I believe a couple of them
