Getting burnt out - in life

Neurocrine try-catch
Nov 15 38 Comments

I feel I am getting burnt out in life in general. Work has little to do with it since I have had a decent wlb so far. Pay is shitty but enough to pay my bills and save a little. I have saved up emergency funds. I work out 2-3 times a week, have friends around who I meet on weekends. But still I feel burnt out and I have no idea why.

My typical routine is - reach office at 10, work 7 hours, gym or Netflix in the evening, some slow progress with leetcode, prep a meal, talk to close friends and family, sleep. Life feels empty, I am demotivated, sluggish, and I can't fathom doing this for the next quarter century.

Looking for advice to fix my life.

Only on weekends, the problem is your weekdays

Everyone is busy with their lives on weekdays. But the fact that we are there for each other if needed and that we spare time for each other on weekends says we are close friends. We can't really talk everyday because there's nothing new to talk everyday.

Sounds like you need to set some goals or find what really motivates you and work towards them.

This is the correct advice. Decide what's important to you, work towards these objectives. Even if you don't fully succeed, you will feel fulfilled.

Even if he finds one , he will not be able to hold onto her in long run as he does not add any value to her life.

You assumed quickly. This feeling has nothing to do with adding value in someone's life

That is what it is. You are not motivated and happy cuz you are unable to find value in things. I dont expect you to understand it right now seeing your condition. Its ok.

You need the following added to your routine:

    1) Meditation and/or prayers
    2) Need to do a little bit of charity work
    3) Start a side project / startup to do on the side to keep you motivated outside work. Need not to be well thought out; just make sure you are excited about it.
    4) Travel from time to time. Travelling solo is totally fine too
    5) Start a relationship / love & affection are crucial
    6) Boost up your sex life

Doesn't sound like burn out, sounds like boredom. Find more shit to do, more stuff to work towards.

  • My friend, you need to explore the world. I felt the same way - now I look forward to traveling the world.

Not too fond of traveling. It's too much work, it's expensive, and it's exhausting.

I felt/still feel the same way sometimes. Basically need to find something you're interested in enough to stave off the boredom (games, books, whatever other hobby) and slowly get better at those things.

Being bored isn't the worst thing in the world though.

I tried a few things, haven't been able to stick to them though. The motivation dies down after some time.

  • Sounds like you need to give homelessness a try. Nothing beats a whole day of begging for money and wondering where your next meal will come from or if you'll be able to sleep somewhere dry while it pours rain you ungrateful zit.
