Ghosted 😢

I just got ghosted by Amazon recruiter. He told me that I will have the online assessment in first week of December and then onsite. I did 550+ lc to prepare and now the recruiter has not been replying for more than a week (I contacted him a week back). I got referred to Uber and fb, but no response from them either. Can someone tell me what am I lacking? The only thing I can think of is going to a no name uni in midwest due to lack of money. I can clear any interview right now, but no one is giving me a chance to interview😡.

You are not lacking anything. People are in hibernation mode. Hiring and all will boom again in Jan. Relax!

I am graduating in December and my OPT has 3 months left.

Amazon OptimPrime Dec 7, 2019

Dude you got to apply to every company there. Why stuck up about these three?

Just relax it’s end of the year. Most people include the recruiters are planning their vacation. Also, departments and hiring managers need budget to make any further decisions. You will make it for sure. Might be you want to tailor your resume a little bit.

Op bad choice to graduate in December. In December the companies that are hiring are usually desperate to hire. Most of them have finished their hiring quotas and are going to start hiring in Jan.

Will companies like Twitter and Amazon also hire in January?

Okta Ironman14 Dec 7, 2019

New year = new positions = new budgets. Also there are way too many tech companies. Don't just focus on Twitter and Amazon. Expand your horizons.

It is end of year. The hiring will start again in January. But you should not worry too much right now. Apply for all the companies. 550lc is a lot. Concentrate on LLD and HLD also and for Amazon Leadership principles.

I have finished reviewing grookig the system design several times too. I will look at the Leadership principles though. Thanks

Not responding after a week or two weeks is not ghosting. On top of that, you are still in the early stages of interviewing. What you’re experiencing is expected. Don’t expect response times to increase until you are green lit to be scheduled for onsite. Also, December is not a good month for hiring anyway. Most companies are still figuring out their budgets and headcount for 2020. January starts to open up more. March/April is optimal.

Got it. Thanks

Finally, you want to be patient and thoughtful with your recruiter. They are people too. If you rush them or push them too hard, they will dislike you. This will cause them to prioritize other candidates over you.

Got it. I did tell him that one of my offer is expiring soon to make him hurry, but to no avail.

Google c12r Dec 7, 2019

Based on your original post, you come off as demanding. You are quick to claim ghosting. Even if you have an offer, that doesn’t mean you can start getting pushy. Also, unless your offer is from a Facebook, Microsoft, or other reputable tech company, they won’t really care.

Same happened to me. May be hiring freeze 🥶

There was a major holiday, many took a week off. You need to reset your expectations.

Got it. Thanks!

+1. Holiday season is always slow. We all have lives too and take vacations. The offices are much more empty than normal. December is always the worst for hiring. Spring time is best.

LinkedIn crackedpep Dec 7, 2019

Chill. If you’ve done 550 LC, you’ll make it to FAANG (or wherever) in less than six months. Relax. People are on vacation now - everything is slow. If you really want something to do, hone your non-technical interview answers, e.g. behavioral. Take a week off and try to do very little & give yourself time to reflect.

Thanks a lot. I will do so.

Yeah. That is pretty impressive. Last time I did LC, there were a total of 900ish questions. That would be more than half.
