Really? Google blind is that interesting. I havn't seen it for months.
Blind is not a safe space. People have to stop being so damn sensitive!
Reported.
Who has time to write this much about Blind lol
I see a common thread where people believe we can have complete fairness in systems, and if fairness isn’t there, we attempt to throw that system out. Whether it’s a political debate about welfare abuse, or a social debate about the merits of anonymous feedback, the same core problem exhibits - people only want the good and none of the bad. That’s naive and unreasonable. We should simplify our decisions and keep refining (but not replacing) mechanisms that meet our broad, positive goals. Determine which goal is most important, and incrementally improve the systems that further those goals. DON’T remove the systems if they also allow bad behaviors, first gauge if we’re still better off with the system than without. Should we get rid of social safety nets because some people abuse them? No. We should work to minimize abuse, but not remove the benefit because we believe helping people in need is a good thing. Should we get rid of anonymous forums because some people use them for negative purposes? No. We should give ourselves a forum for freedom of speech *and* freedom of consequence to ensure that we don’t stifle the voice of the people. Stifling free speech only feels good when you’re in the majority, but feels pretty bad otherwise, and sadly we’re all only a step away from being in the minority. This article intimates that Blind is a problem because there is negative speech here - attacks and otherwise. I claim that the platform is insanely valuable, even with the negative speech, because Blind’s positives far outweigh the negatives. We’re better off with free speech, even if we don’t like what people are saying.
Amen.
Slow news day? Edit: turns out it's part of the Gawker media umbrella. That explains the low quality "reporting" 😂
"Blind isn't doing anything about it." Ummm, does she not understand the point of the app???
"People don't like me because I'm trans!" No, I didn't like you because you were awful to everyone around you but no one could call out your bad behavior.
Since Blind is anonymous, how can you be harassed here for who you are unless you announce who you are? Talking shit about someone is not the same as harassment.
Uh it definitely can be
Also blind is not anonymous to be clear
