I left a fang company partly for personal reasons, partly bad mgr. No perf issues though. Two yrs later tried to go back when I found out I was on the no hire list. Pissed I fought this and escalated and HR told me I was flagged in error. Bull shit. Got the flag removed, interviewed (nailed it), no hire. Pretty sure the asshole who worked with HR on the flag said terrible things when the prospective new team seeked him out for a reference/feedback. Advice? Give it up? Many have said legal action. I have emails between HR, between him as documented proof of no issues with performance and stating they had non idea how I was flagged (um sure) but I know he wants to make sure I dont come back. Worth it? Not worth it?
What company??? Current TC and future TC......?
Tc doesn’t matter here but 250 tc while there.
Amazon?
There is no law that forces Amazon to hire you. Save your energy and find somewhere else to work.
I realize if I go the legal route I would not be going back. It’s the principle in shitty practices and fucked up mgrs getting away with it. I’m not looking for $$ or anything like that. It was just flat out wrong yet I’ve heard my story over and over there.
Unfortunately you're a very small fish in their very large pond. Amazon has been known to throw big legal guns at people just to make a point, such as taking matters to court instead of settling like other companies would. They have the power and the will to crush you in legal costs (because we all know that they will win) so I simply wouldn't bother. Life is too short.
Curious if anyone here has gone through employment legal action and what that experience was.
At some point in my professional life, I did contempt the possibility to sue my ex employer. But a lawyer, specialized in employment laws, and a family friend gave me this advice : unless your ex employer permanently damaged your reputation and made you un employable, you’re going to loose a lot of time, a lot of money by suing them. And I found a better job, with an higher TC, three weeks later. So I moved on.
Thanks. This is helpful. I am not sure I’m up for it tbh. Despite the encouragement from all around I just don’t know I’m up for it.
Sounds like you are done with Amazon. Apply to FNG...
I’ll just work my way through the others:)
I would just move on. My classmate is going through lawsuits against his employer, ten years passed, he is still in the battle, the thing is he lost his money-making prime, even a normal happy life. Say finally he wins, which I highly doubt, so what? The time lost is nothing you can make up for.
Agree with you.
Amazon has bad reputation, why go back?
Seriously, they are doing you a favor.
You both are probably right. I will say, I had a great experience otherwise and am one of the few who loved the culture but it’s probably not worth it.
OP you're trying to solve the wrong problem. Amazon is the bottom of fang and you've already worked there, so you have the faang badge in your resume. I know it sucks that your piece of shit boss blscklisted you. Now go to Google or something and make sure he never works there. Best of luck!
🙏 and you’re right.
Listen to his advice, he works for glassdoor -> knows which companies suck.
Why would you try to hard to get back into Amazon? Pass on.
You have no legal footing. Sounds like you were a dick about the process and that could have influenced the hiring decision. Try again later and try to appear to be a good fit culturally this time.
You're really just making my point for me
