Going for invest firm in 2020?

Is it generally a bad idea to join an invest firm or hedge fund company now or next year? I'm worried about potential huge layoffs and low bonus due to the recession. If so, do tech companies tend to have better stability?

My question is basically FAANG vs Wallstreet in 2020 aka potential recession

Depends on the firm. Recessions can be good for algo trading firms targeting shorter horizons. If you’re worried about the recession, go for HRT, Jane St, Tower, etc.

You seem to assume a recession like in 2007. What if it’s like 2001?
