3 months Performer improvement plan. Can I take my full paternity half way through the PiP? I don't plan to come back, but my yearly bonus is due during this time. My company offers generous 6 months paternity. Can I get fired while on paternity since I did not complete PiP? Tagging some of the companies who give pip excessively to get any guidance here.
Paternity makes it hard for a company to fire you immediately. I don't think a manager has any say of whether or when you can take paternity leave. Talk to your hr..
I don't trust my HR. They may expedite it somehow.
HR generally would not risk firing somebody that’s going on paternity leave as it can open the company up to lawsuits.
If you are eligible for paternity leave, take it ASAP and don’t come back. They can not deny you that.
I'm not a lawyer, but I would think you could sue if they fire you while on paternity leave. Did you enter into any agreement or contract with the company when you started the pip?
If it's FMLA you are talking about and you have legitimate grounds (birth certificate for your child is pretty hard evidence) I think it's incredibly illegal for them to say no. You might want to check with an employment lawyer to verify that statement, but my understanding is that you're untouchable when on FMLA. However the legal period of time covered may be less than the generous benefit your company offers, I think it's 12 weeks not 6 months. So check with a lawyer.
Paternity is not same as FMLA. Paternity is a benefit, FMLA is law.
Netflix doesn't have PIP. If you feel your job is under duress, take your parental leave NOW.
Take it ASAP.
Paternity leave pauses your RSU, if that's why you want to go on a leave

You are expecting bonus when on pip?
I was expecting a bonus while on a PiP. Changed managers at the turn of the quarter. Old manager who was promoted gave me "exceeded expectations" on my review. New manager had me on a PiP 2 weeks in that ended the day before bonus payouts. Ended up never getting that bonus but I did get a severance that was much higher. *shrug*

I think paternity is on the approval of your manager.. He can’t say no.. but may warn you of the implications indirectly.
Does it mean, my manager can deny my paternity and instead ask me to finish my PiP? I want to get that yearly bonus and if I am fired for not completing PiP then I will loose it.
