It is if it’s sexual harassment, which in this case it is.

We took our 1 year old at the time to Au’lani (Disney resort) and it was great. You need to measure your expectation of what a “good time” means - obviously you aren’t going to go zip lining with an 8 month old strapped to you but you can hang out on the beach, try new food etc.

We liked that place as it had babysitters so we could do our own thing at night.

The context where you’re acting like you’re doing it for your kid?

imo Disney resort on an eight month old will be a total waste. They need to be at least three to start appreciating that stuff.

And oath you make no sense at all.

The whole "your kid won't remember it so don't bother" line of reasoning is stupid - they are developing their personality even if they don't remember every visit with Mickey.

Kids can still have fun without the encumbrance of having to stroke your ego for the memory.

    1. Kauai is chill and a good place to go.
    2. I'd say it's 50/50 whether or not to go with an 8 month old. I did a number of flights with a kid from 4 months to 1.5 years old. Mostly it sucks pretty hardcore. Like others say, have low/different expectations for your vacation.
    3. Recommend giving zero fucks about what these other people are saying about kids on planes.

I've never seen happy infants or infant parents on plane to hawaii or in Hawaii. Too much. I'd only do it if only way to visit grandparents.

I do not recommend traveling for pleasure with kids, when they are a bit older, take fun exploring type trips. Bring kids for trips (Grand Canyon, Alaska, that kind of things), leave the kids at home when vacationing (Hawaii, Bahamas, South of France, etc.)

If that’s what you are going for, then sure, but I will still wait until kid is older, they won’t remember or enjoy it, and will make it less enjoyable for you. Diapers and traveling is a PITA.

I mean it depends on the kid and you as well, but personally with any of my kids at 8mo, no. We did Disney at 1 with our oldest because Grandparents really wanted to do it, it sucked, not very fun at all.

So pretty much end of good times for you till your kids become older!. Is so much trouble really make it worth it to have kids!?

  • My 8 month old did not enjoy Hawaii (Kauai). He hated the beach and the water and the sun. But every kid is different.

Hawai’i is a family friendly place to travel. Yeah it’s work to take the plane ride, rent a car and generally go out with kids but you gotta take vacation. You just need to adjust how you go out to accommodate.

Obviously some concepts are just way over your head. How has living so literally been treating you in life?

  • If you can fly with 8 mo (ask your doctor), then Oahu should be fine

Because children have extremely sensitive ear canals when considering barometric pressure changes. Did you read the manual??

They don’t know what is happening and will be in pain for hours. I hope you like screaming babies 1 foot from your ear.

I'm from Oahu and fly back at least twice a year. If you can keep your kid quiet on the plane ride, go for it. Once you're on the island, there's lots of things to do for your kid.

It's common but it's not accepted. Most people travel there to relax and a crying baby just makes everyone annoyed.

Imo there's not much you can do with an eight month old.

Go to the beach, swim, sight see? Damn seriously you think mommy and daddy are gonna go clubbing with a baby. Get real. People have families and raise kids there

Have fun at the beach with the sun, and sand etc. I did the same vacation a couple of years ago and regretted it.

People do have families there but when you're talking vacation you usually want to have a good time.

It's totally normal not to take kids with your to a vacation.

That time is was Kawai, iirc. It generally requires less driving. But I'd check all 3 islands (never been to Oahu so cannot say anything about it), and just choose whichever I get a better deal. Yes, you won't be able to do multi hour hikes etc, but still, plenty of ways to enjoy quieter vacation as well. Have a good trip!

Yes - traveling with a baby is hard enough - please give 0 fucks to what other people think.

You will be fine. If going to Maui - stick to large hotels - plenty of them exist - lots of room to roam around with strollers. Don't expect you will get to do everything in one trip.

I personally feel Kauai is the best island to travel with kids or infants, especially if you're looking to de-stress. The flight isn't too bad and some resorts have more for the kids than the others.

Went to Oahu for a week with my 9 month old . Traveling can be a quite challenge since it was our first time traveling with a baby but vacation is a vacation. Bring the baby, have fun and enjoy the present.

If you can leave the kids at home with family I recommend that.

Otherwise a lot of your time will be spent watching them and you won't really get to relax and enjoy the trip.
