I want to relocate back to the Bay Area to be close to family because my dad is very sick. Considered an internal transfer or working remote but assuming a COL adj wouldn’t happen or be strong enough. Started looking and got an offer from a recently IPO’d startup that I’m into it. But I’m finally over the struggle at Amazon, feels like I have good momentum, on good projects, etc. Don’t really like Seattle but made some friends and things are looking up. For the record this is a jump from L5 FA to an SFA. 3.5 YOE (last 1.5 have been at AMZN). Current TC - 81K base - 52K in RSUs (60 shares, worth 95K-ish today) - 17K bonus year 1, 15K bonus year 2 - 10K relo Offer TC - 103K base - 45K in RSUs - 6K bonus I’m conflicted. Yay or nay?
45k over 4 years? Is this L5 or L6?
45k quarterly after 1 year. Amazon is yearly after one year 5%/15%/40%/40% Currently an L5 and would be leaving amazon for an SFA title.

Yay, even on the crappy offer, since no amount of money can buy you more time with your dad. And if you’re not able or don’t want to take a hardship transfer with Amazon and the startup burns out, you can try to boomerang back.
Crappy huh? Damn.
