Just curious how this will affect Amazon and if it will cause prices to increase much if at all? Have employees at Walmart seen this impact their business at all since raising their minimum wage too? I assume Target is the next to be pressured to raise their minimum wage to $15/hour if they haven’t already done so.

Some of the low end unskilled labor is going to get paid more. It's all good IMO .

Amazon can absorb it because of AWS, but other retailers will have a harder time. Good move.

Good start. If it’s $20 by 2020, maybe the guillotines won’t be constructed after all.

Why would it be bad? If I’m going to do business with a company, I’m going to want to feed good about giving them my money by knowing they’re creating good jobs that people can live off of.

Sadly, most of these $15 jobs will me automated away.

In the details, we are also phasing be out RSUs for hourly associates. With the stock price so high, an annual grant was converging on less than 1 share.

It’s great for Amazon. If a $15 min wage passes nationally then Walmart is proper fucked. Can’t wait.

Walmart has programs where they employ mentally deficient folks who cannot get other jobs. It’s an amazing and beautiful program and would be unfortunate if it no longer existed. For example, they have a store greeter- and usually that personal is either physically or mentally impaired (or both). If Walmart gets ducked, a lot of folks who cannot get jobs elsewhere will also get ducked.

Good for Amazon in terms of public perception; terrible in terms of the long lasting economic effect.
