My friend will join Bloomberg in the first week of February. The recruiter told him that there are no training sessions in feb, so he has to pre-train in some team. My friend told the recruiter that he wants to work in ML/NLP/Big Data team, but the recruiter told him that ML/NLP/Big Data teams won't generally have pre-trainees so he has to match with some other team. How much are the chances that he will get a team working in ML/NLP/Big Data? Also, what are other good teams that he can ask for matching which works on the latest technologies and have good wlb? How do recent graduates have the same TC as me with 7.5 YOE at 3.5 at BB 😤🙈
Btw Bloomberg has casual dress code :)
My comment was about Citibank and other financial companies.
Tell your friend not be a diva. Pre-training will last a short amount of time. They will have the opportunity to shadow with other teams. Show up have a good attitude for the first couple of weeks. Kick ass during the training cycle. Even if they don’t keep get their ML/Big Data dreams to kick off, go to Meetups, make contact with others. Try to get into BB’s internal ML course.
Unlikely to get into an ML team but just be patient. Bloomberg is big on internal mobility so after a year or so, assuming they are good, they will do almost anything to keep them then have them leave.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
