As a senior it's time to specialize, look for blogs and conferences on things you care about, pick one and dive deeper. I do distributed systems/agile development but your interests might be telecomunications, testing, product development, frontend, networking, embedded systems, devices, security. Again pick one then specialize. Building systems carries the same idea from building linux to building distributed systems. The domain knowledge in specialty is what determines what compromises you make
