I understand this is super open-ended and is highly dependent on the team. With regards to a L5 or SDE2 position. Microsoft - Laid back culture, politics, legacy and old technologies. Amazon - Bad culture, Bad WLB. Google - Work is getting mundane with emphasis on maintenance kind of stuff. Apple - Non-competitive TC. Netflix - Only hires Senior. Facebook - This seems good with fast paced development, competitive TC, new tech and lots of learning but company isn’t stable both stock wise and as a whole in terms of privacy. Again, only listing top tech companies. And asking for a very general perspective as descriped above. Any correction or help or addition to the perspective above and any other options? P.S: Only serious and healthy discussions please. This could be useful for everyone to get an insight as to how each company and check for how compatibility works.
Albertsons is pretty good I hear
New tech at Facebook? I’d love to see some examples.
That was just what I heard. Please add what you feel. And also to add my comment was from the perspective that make fast break fast makes the learning fast.
Why do you think Apple's TC is not competitive? If you think Apple's TC is not good enough, you should say the same thing about Amazon.
He works at Microsoft :)
Apple couldn't compete with my Amazon offer recently. Amazon offered 265k. Apple - Requested for 245k, they offered 225k. While Recruiter, Hiring Manager, Director approved the offer and gave a heads up saying they are moving forward, the VP didn't approve it saying it's too much. The org I interviewed for is AMP Data Science. I noticed that Apple couldn't compete with other FAANG offers not only in my case but also when some of my friends got offers. Now, this may not be the situation with all the teams and orgs as it varies widely, OP is correct to an extent about Apple not being able to compete.
General sense I get at Twitter a year in: Good but not top market TC. Over processed for how small we are. Values nice people, maybe too much so-- gets in the way of stuff getting done sometimes (but I'd rather err this way that deal with a stream of toxic assholes, I've done both). Pretty flexible letting people switch roles, know some folks at junior and director levels who switched teams within 3 months of joining the company. Bit of koolaid culture, but that's pretty normal in tech lol. Some teams are awesome, some are absolute clown shows-- I'm lucky enough to be in former and have been unlucky enough to work with the latter. Garbage recruiting in my experience and through grapevine.
Hmm..Interesting..
Apple pays really well right?
Yes not sure why OP thinks otherwise

Albertsons - Top TC, top culture, no politics, fast paced, <insert other superlatives here>.
