Lets say you interview with Google, and get an offer.

Can you then have interviews with Facebook, amazon etc. to get competing offers, and come back to Google to get them to match the offer?

OR

Do you need the competing offer at the same time as Google is giving you the offer?

  • I'm sure they have a timeline of when they need an answer. You can't go out and shop for a year and come back to them

Yeah, you need to have a team match first. I don't believe the team affects comp, but I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case. I think it might matter if you're a particularly expensive individual, since extreme out of band offers seem to have to be approved by directors or VPs. Maybe it matters if you're in a specialty field like ML too.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I joined recently and heard some of this from a close friend of mine who is a recruiter.

      Yeah, thanks for your answers!

Would 450+100 signing considered extreme for l5?

Yeah the impression I got was that my L5 450k offer was already a lot higher than a standard offer. They wouldn't match any higher than that.

      What’s the standard l5 offer like ?

At FB standard is around 320

  • If you already accepted the offer it is too late. If they made the offer and you haven’t accepted then you are still negotiating.

      Thank you for the response.

So before accepting , you can tell them that you are interviewing and will get back to them ?
      Sep 18
    • Yep, absolutely. You can’t screw around, like a week is fine, 2 weeks is pushing it, asking for an extra month isn’t great.

I don’t think it will be appropriate to negotiate after accepting any offer

Idk what you're asking. Are you saying after you accept the offer? Otherwise you would just tell them you have other interviews going on and are waiting for the competing offers.
