Google - which product area to work on?
I have a call with my Google onsite recruiter tomorrow. She mentioned in the email that I should have an idea of what google products I want to work on and gave me this list of products: https://www.blog.google/products/ What would you recommend? Next Billion Users was presented as an option. So were payments and infrastructure orgs. I’d personally prefer somewhat newer products like next billion users and payments that have a lot of work left to be done. What should I prioritize to get faster growth?
don't go to cloud!! what are your interests? more concretely than "something new"
Payments for sure is one of my interests. Beyond that I’m really not sure. If some orgs are more valued to higher ups and more likely to get promoted in I’d prefer that. Why not cloud btw? I’ve heard people saying stay away from cloud a lot.
I think cloud has bad wlb and there are rumors about lowering the bar in cloud due to huge hiring push. payments is huge PA, so I'm sure you'll have a lot of opportunities there. in general all PAs promote roughly same percentages. one thing to keep in mind is in some domains it's easier to prove your work. for example, in ads, you can say I made X improvement which generated Y dollars, etc.
