Have you been to NYC? If not, then please don't spread the fake news. Median household income there is just 70K. You can have a descent life with 150K in NYC and luxury life for over 200K TC.
Great place. Much better connected than Midwest. You're asking the richest guy in the world to put his company somewhere. Of the richest guy of the top 2 richest companies can't establish a big center in the big Apple, nobody else can

You don't necessarily need to live in Manhattan. The apartments in Jersey City and Brooklyn are cheaper than that in Bay area and commute is only about 30 minutes by subway which doesn't get jamed like highway in California.
We need a tech hub so we can constantly hire and pivot out 10% of our pool. That means only existing tech hub.
