You don't necessarily need to live in Manhattan. The apartments in Jersey City and Brooklyn are cheaper than that in Bay area and commute is only about 30 minutes by subway which doesn't get jamed like highway in California.

Have you been to NYC? If not, then please don't spread the fake news. Median household income there is just 70K. You can have a descent life with 150K in NYC and luxury life for over 200K TC.
