Google BizOps case interview
What is the typical format for the case interview? Can you share some of the case interview questions that were asked in the previous interviews?
I didn't have any cases. What level are you interviewing for?
Associate. Background is MBA + 2 years experience in internal strategy. Can you share what kind of questions you were asked?
I had a similar background. Actually, now that I think about it, we did discuss situations they were working on (e.g. let's say you had to design a team for us that focused on X, how would you think through that?) and it felt more conversational than a case but I was interviewing for a weird team so YMMV. More of my conversations were about past roles and motivations for this role.
standard consulting questions
I was wondering if the cases were based on the actual projects that the team has worked on? What products/services/business problems are typically discussed in the case?
It’s all about getting insight into the candidate’s approach to solving problems and figuring out answers. For example: - What steps would you take if you were tasked with opening up a new overseas call center? - How would you go about determining the number of planes flying above the US right now? - What advice would you give to a new restaurant looking to increase revenues? Keep in mind it’s important to ask follow-up questions, clarify any assumptions you might be making, etc so that the interviewer can follow your problem solving steps.
