Google HC approved at L3

I just got an email saying HC approved me at L3, and pretty stoked. But I do have some concerns about possible being low balled, and seeking some advise.

My YoE is about 5.5 years, and TC: 175 (150 salary + 20 bonus, 5~ equity), with a southern California cost of living.

Will it be possible to negotiate a good L3 package given silicon valleys cost of living at a higher TC?

EDIT: have on sites with Facebook and Amazon coming up.

Cheers

No, get competing offers to negotiate, otherwise you'll get the standard L3 package.

180k is pretty low for your YoE

Is L3 at 5+ YOE standard for Google? I would have thought L4, even though they downlevel. I had the impression that L3 is like, new grad.

If you are not in FAAM, yea you enter at L3. 5 YOE is fine

@brownapkin why reference it as FAAM instead of FAANG? and is this normal for other FAANG (FAAM) companies to bring at a lower level if the candidate has not been in one of the other companies.

Well, there is no G because that is the company the person is applying to. And I also don't see a lot of Netflix folks moving I to G, but I see Microsoft, so FAAM. Yes it's very normal. I have noticed this pattern. 5 years in a startup or any avg company gives you L3. Tesla kind of companies give you L4. So it depends on YOE and company. I have seen directors and VPs at other companies join in as L5 and L6. These are not big brand companies, hardly Fortune 100.

There are three variables - YOE, company, and interview rating that decides your level

192.5k TC. With 5.5 YOE, should be L4. With L4, you can go up to 300k TC

Lol itsneerg. U clearly dont know offers.
150k is for 4 yrs. 100k sign on is for 1 yr.
So tc per year is 130 + (250/4)
