Google HC rejecting Hire

I presume the recruiters submit only the good profiles to the HC. I am curious what are the chances for rejection if a profile happens to reach the HC after onsite interview.

Are you asking what percentage of onsite interview candidates get an offer after being submitted to the Hiring Committee? Is there a way for the Interview panel to reject a candidate without submission to the hiring committee? (this shouldn’t happen if pre-screening is done correctly)

As I understand it, if you actually bomb a question or some of the feedbacknis outright negative you won't make it to the hiring committee in the first place. Pretty sure on some earlier round of onsites a few years ago I BTDT because they got back to me with won't br moving forward pretty quickly

Not true. HC is just a meeting. You can be rejected easily.

I’ve been to HC twice. Rejected once. Accept once

I've been on site three times over 10 years. Once I got a thanks but no thanks quickly (SWE role, was still pretty junior back them) so pretty sure it didn't make it beyond the initial feedback phase, 2nd time (also SWE) a couple years after that I got a thanks but no thanks after a couple weeks but no indication of whether it went to HC or not. Most recent tims was an SRE loop and the recruiter was a lot more transparent. Got to HC after my first round of interviews and got sent to a second panel for more signal in a couple of areas, no offer when it went back to HC a second time.

No point in going to HC if a candidate does really bad. In fact, in old days we (at google) used to cut the interview loop short if the first few went really bad.
