Does Google HW only hire experienced people?
Does feel like google tends to gravitate toward elite school graduates for fresh grad, but as long as you get an interview then that levels the playing field.
I agree, if you have 0 experience, Google is not the best place to learn. If you have 3+ or 5+ exp, Google is a good place to work.
Does their HW team seem to have a good/long future? Are they invested in it or is it just a pet project
From hiring multiple teams of people to fulfill cross functional roles (PD, EE, module teams, RF, EPM, Ops, etc.) to spanning across multiple orgs (Nest, Pixel, Create, ATAP), Google is probably the most serious software company that plays in the hardware arena. That is not to compare to traditional hardware players like Apple, Samsung, or even Huawei.
if you are talking about GCHIPS, then please don't join, it is crap/ . They have no vision, have got a bunch of "leads" who have never delivered and their product planning is crapshoot. i was folded into this grp, and i am amazed at how incompetent this group is. Politic is rife and all the good folks are leaving left and right. specially, if you are new grad, you don't want to join a culture where their is no trust. this gets built into your psyche.
Damn that sounds like all the other HW companies. ☹️
My exact same experience. Since the lead hired from apple left, team is Ina chaos. Incompetent folks trying to land grab and preventing competent people from delivering. So many folks leaving internally to the other silicon team (which I heard is also not great) and leaving externally. I think the problem is their is no internal need for this team to exsist.
How is the TPU org doing?
GChips is full of politics and incompetent folks. All the people who are left over at gChips are rejects from Apple/Nuvia and other world class teams

Not true, about 1/5 of the people on our team were hired in as fresh grad / no experience. But not sure Google is the right place to learn HW development if you have no experience.
Are the new grads from U C Berkeley/ Stanford? Honestly, I have never gotten an interview call. Is it right place to work after one has over 5 year's experience?
Hey, do you mind sharing what team you’re on? (Uxzl45)
