Yes, it's a bad time to join, and I'm hoping that my manager will cut me some slack for a refresher / raise by end of year. I've got an L3 position with lower than usual TC. What should I do (apart from joining in December) to ensure I get a better-than-average raise and refresher? Note that I have a pretty low TC and was hoping to bring this up with my manager after 3-4 months of work. - I'll be a top performer, and willing to work extra hours to show perf - I'm super enthusiastic to learn other tech. Will put in the extra effort and help out on other stacks. - My experience includes startups, so I'm good at people skills and prioritising / working sprints. - I'm a good human overall, and haven't had personal problems with managers. New TC: 35 LPA YoE: 3.5
35lpa for a 3.5 yoe sounds about right to me, if it is not more.
Hmm that's weird. I've been looking at multiple posts here on Blind, pointing out 40L+ for 1-2 YoE What's the avg TC at Amazon for 3.5 YoE?
It's on the lower end . But also depends on past pay and stuff . 40+ is to be easily expected for 2yoe+
Why is it a bad time to join? When should you join?
It's going around that for January joiners, there won't be stock refreshers in the November perf. I'll basically have to wait for 2 years (Jan 2022) to receive them. But there are exceptions, wanna find out what I can do.
You need to do a better job at humble bragging first. You are calling 35L "pretty low tc". Do you even hear yourself?
I'm not humble bragging :) Look around for Google / Amazon / FB salaries. Mine's pretty low for 3.5 YoE. I've seen 1-2 YoE get much better than mine. Just looking for genuine help, that's all.
Not sure whats tc at yelp, but yep 35L is low for 3.5 yoe. At amzn we cry about being underpaid, and 35 is on lower end for us too given that yoe.
Honestly speaking there are too many people and not much work in blr. Promos , etc. are driven by very objective parameters in Google. Don't expect that you will be making a lot of impact for first 6 months. I am not sure about the conditions in Google hyd.
Well, I'm joining Bangalore :z Alright. I assumed it was 3-4 weeks of onboarding and I'll be off to production work. I'd like to know what you mean by "objective parameters" Also, Xoogler?
No, currently working there. Your cl's, design docs, impact , etc are evaluated by a promo committee for a promotion. Unfortunately this means your promo depends on work you will be assigned ( or available work). This is opposed to something like being promoted based on inputs from your manager.
