What compensation can someone joining Google (@Mountain view, CA) as an L3 Software engineer expect, after graduating with an MS CS and 1 yoe? Converted Google internship to full time offer.

Base/signon and relocation bonus/stocks?

Asking for a friend.

Ask for 145k base, $430k RSUs over 4 years, 50k signing

possible from what I have seen. L3 band seems to top out at close to 270-280k, excluding sign-on.

@AWASU7 signing bonus could go up right? Like to 100k perhaps with a competing offer from fb with 100k signing?

      Not the literal highest!

You will never get that base, period. RSU that high at L3 are generally reserved for big downlevels.

Can confirm that a 265k tc is possible at L3 (and a 145k base too). But frankly 1 yoe after MS might not get it unless you have competing offers that are paying you in that range.

Expect ballpark of 110-130k base, 140-200k rsu, 15% bonus, 25-50k signing. TC will probably be around 180-225k. Unless you have competing offer, they won’t give you more rsu

  • Based on the 100 stories about Google being really good at matching other offers from quality companies and really bad at lowballs for the person with no other offer and a dream of working at Google, it seems like you should be asking about what offers competitors make, in order to negotiate.

Never let them think it is your dream. That reeks of desperation.

    • Clearly. They can give an offer like it is anyway, if you’re not bringing a high TC already or a competing offer. I have noticed that even people on Blind seem to put a high value on working for the Google brand, and I would guess we’re a little more pragmatic / money motivated than the average.
