The on-site went well. The coding rounds were easy, though I know some say that the first question is only intended to last 5 minutes and lead to others — that’s where I could have failed (though I moved as swiftly as I could, and only one led to a follow up which was mostly discussion). The 2 design rounds were resolved as well — but that’s always hit or miss because I probably looked like a fool iterating several times to get to what I/we felt worked. So it’s 50/50 chance. I have many (many) YOE but I doubt that gives me any leeway if I was in fact supposed to solve more coding problems (and nail designs on the first pass). I haven’t given any team suggestions nor been asked since my initial call. I don’t want to write my recruiter because I never like to invite my own rejection. I’m clearly not in the team matching phase, as I’ve given no input. Does this mean I’m not even at HC yet? I’m sure I’ll get rejected because that’s just my trend these days. But why so long for that to happen?
Longer wait is usually good news. Rejections come quick.
What is your level at Amazon?
L5 at Amazon despite my experience (big mistake to accept that at my stage), and recruiter said my candidacy is for L5 at Google (Senior SWE). I was in their system from an employee referral 2 years ago, though that friend left Google after a long tenure. They contacted me over a year later from that submission, and that initial submission didn’t get far because I had already accepted Amazon by the time I received a chat invite for one of my 3 applications. Seriously, once Google is gone, Microsoft is all I have left. If I can’t even land that (well, a non-degrading role with appropriate comp), then I’m done entirely with the west coast.
What org at Amazon?
I dont have anything to add but just hope that you get it.
Thank you, I’ll post an update once I’m rejected.
Nah, man. You'll post an update when you get it. :)
Want to give FB a try?
Tried 6 months ago and flubbed the initial screen. It was my first tech interview in a year and I wasn’t prepared. Today I could do it, but FB makes you wait a full year. So in 6 months I might if a recruiter contacts me.
I finally got my rejection. I was told that I didn’t advance to team matching, which I assume means that I failed the hiring committee. That basically means I didn’t even come close to being offer-worthy. I was encouragingly told that 65% of the current staff needed more than one try to get in, and that I should try again in a year. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

What is the appeal to NVIDIA?
I don't think you'll be inviting your own rejection, just contact them
Because it’s unlikely he’ll say “oh, yeah, sorry about that, been slammed here. We appreciate you taking a full day to interview with Google. Unfortunately...”. I can locate that “. Unfortunately” in a rejection email like a hawk. Just got one today for one that seemed like my best shot of all. That’s why I’m particularly glum here tonight. If they dumped me then it’s silly to think that their trash is Google’s treasure.
