Folks who cracked the L5 bar in Google, what it took in terms of System Design and Leetcode prep? Did you have to mention your recruiter that you are targeting L5. If you couldn’t reach up to the L5 mark, was down leveling an option for you/Google? I am planning to read Martin Kleppmann’s book. Any other resources you can suggest? Thanks in advance!
Study the good products such as Kafka, Cassandra, spanner, k8s will help.
Good one man! Thanks
That books will help you a lot, but i believe it is not enough for l5 if you didnt work on some projects. If you can read all the reference books/docs, you can be 6+😂.
Wish I could lol
If the timeline was the next 5 years to my G L5 interview, what books/references should I read to accompany project experience at a FAANG and LeetCode?
L5 is about having meaningful experience which leet code doesnt gives you
It's good to read books but my experience is that it's hard to know the details if you don't really work on it and see how it's resolved. With books, you know the concepts but you will fall short when pressed on details. That's why it's really a blessing to have the chance to work with good engineers.
Yeah, I can see what you are saying. Good insight. Maybe I will try some hello world type system development (which already sounds funny:)) but you know, all I am wondering what’s the best I can do if I have 3 months to deep dive more!
