Google L5 interview

which one to go for ? i am inclined towrards domain experience interview. is there any benefit for going to a general round (not domain experience) for L5 ? how hard the domain experience interview ? tc:320k, yoe:5 edit: 2 coding + 1 sys design + 1 domain exp. + 1 behavioral vs 2 coding + 1 sys design + 1 general datastructure round + 1 behavioral

I don’t think that’s how google interview works. There is no way they’ll let you pass without general algorithm questions. What my recruiter told me was, most of the interview will be generalist, but one interview will be about domain expertise and she had me choose what that domain is.

Yes correct. There will be 2 rounds of coding too

Definitely opt to have the domain specific interview. It helps to place you in the right team later. That is, of course, assuming that you want to stay in the same area.

I was conflicted. Did lots of prep for DS&A so was tempted to stick to DS but ultimately went to domain knowledge. Really glad I did. If you have actual experience, domain knowledge is way simpler.

Thanks for suggestions. What was the focus ? Breadth ? Was it similar like sysdesign ?

Probably depends on your domain. In my case was more system design like but not sure it would be the same next time.
