Got verbal confirmation from Google recruiter that I am approved for L5 manager. Recruiter wants to know my compensation expectations. How much should I ask? My current comp (EM @ LinkedIn) is: Base: 215K Bonus 15% RSU: approx $800K unvested (500K vesting in next 2 years) Not counting ESPP gains which are not very large, but should be about $3.5k per year, give or take. IOW my current tc is approx $500K each for next 2 years, then drops to 400K for following 2 years (I may get a refresher by then, who knows). Would Google be able to meet/beat this comp? I do have few other offers but they are not that great. What are comp ranges for L5 at Google?
Why do you want to switch? Atleast you are compensated good enough
800k unvested stock looks nice. Is that usual at em levels at LinkedIn? Is that a function of msft stock growth?
If they want you, they can definitely give you something like 190k base, 15-30% bonus, 800k+ RSU and up to 100k signing. It's definitely will above average, but sounds like you have the footing to negotiate it.
Sounds like Google L5 would be a step down for you
Hey OP, how many years of total experience do you have?
14 yrs
215k is way out of the range. Even 180k would be considered high. If they can match TC you'd be lucky.
Check out http://levels.fyi, seems like it would cap out at around 400K
I had a chat with my recruiter and have given my expected numbers. She asked me how I arrived at the numbers, and gave her the math based on my current comp (I guess they can't ask current comp any more, but you can offer to tell that in your own). Recruiter didn't say anything, whether it's in the upper end or what.. she said she will ask the "compensation committee" (?) and get back.
500k for L5 looks too high. Google's range would be around 400k.
Thanks, 400K may work if they throw in sign on bonuses for first 2 years to help match .. would you know the ranges for sign on?
Even 400k is a way too high for L5. Before sign on of course
