Hello Blind fam! I just confirmed with my google recruiter for onsite day. I was asked to fill out a form Google Employment Application/NDA form and there are couple things I am curious about. 1) Why does it ask for my current employee’s supervisor? aka my manager? isnt it bad to give that out b4 getting an offer? Will they call my company and ask for my manager? Not that i am on a bad term with my manager, its just weird to give that info out. 2) There are 3 reference fields that I am able to fill out. Do I have to fill out all three of them or at least one? (well obviously at least one lol) Thank you in Advance, YOE 4 TC ~80K
What are you interviewing for ?

Give a reference only if you have one. If you have 3, give 3.
So when you give them the manager they keep it for after. Generally even when you get an offer, they submit this to a third party who verifies with your current employer, but the verification is only to title, not to comp or anything. If they cant reach an HR representative they will reach your manager for confirmation since in some companies there is no reachable "HR". If someone reaches out before you have an offer made that's a serious breach in protocol so it wont happen. If it ever does happen to you in any company, report that to them since whoever did that is pretty much done for. More references are better, but if you only have one that's fine, just make sure they're relevant to your job and really good.
Does google let you know before reaching out to the manager ? Reason - one may want to hide where they are going to their manager So if google reaches out , then it’s no longer a secret
Not just at Google, as an industry standard in most mid and high tier companies nobody will reach out without your consent. If you're not feeling comfortable supplying it then sure you can put a blank and put HRs number or the companies main line for inquiries, but I think alot of people overthink this in general. Edit: for added closure to anybody who's sweating just think. The potential thousands of resumes that land through Hire each day are NOT going to have a human dedicated to calling your manager. We need bodies in seats and we need it yesterday.
Does Goog ever call your references?
Idk... that’s a good question.
Will it be okay to enter previous employer name and manager in that field? That way you are not disclosing current employer info, in case someone from google contacts before the offer
Just give out the company's generic phone number on their website's front page. At first glance it looks legit; however, this way you provide no additional information they can't already obtain.
