Google PM onsite Technical round

I have L6 PM onsite interview with Google in a few weeks.

What kind of questions can I expect in the technical round? Can you please provide example questions?

I have MS in EE with 12 yoe in various engineering roles and PMT roles in hardware, semiconductors and firmware development. However, I dont have experience in hard core software engineering. I can tackle system design questions in high level but I wont be able to justify all the deep software pro/cons.

For L6 level, how deep will they expect me to go software wise? Am I expected to know deep details like algorithm A is better than algorithm B due to Big-O notation blah blah etc? Or am I only expected to get the big picture right and not worry about minor details?

Already looked into that. He studied it very deeply since he had SWE background and he mentioned all that is not needed for Google PM interview. So I want to know what IS needed?

You'll likely see a combinations of focus on team dynamics (working with eng) and proof of technical understanding. On the latter, you'd do well to follow some of the tips that the recruiter will have sent for prep. I spent time practicing on basic Algo stuff found on YouTube ("Google algorithm interview questions") which was helpful in building my confidence.

Any other resources you can point to besides 'Cracking PM interview' and 'Lewis Lin' books?

I seem to remember reading Decode and Conquer but all the books are a bit of a blur.

Were the questions more on your past experience or on the target role? Also, did you apply first or the recruiter reached out to you?
