Just had a call back from the recruiter mentioning that the Hiring committee decided not to go forward as my System Design Interviews are not as good as they would like. Earlier was notified that I have a mixed feedback and will be passing up my packet to the HC. Also the recruiter mentioned I can reapply in 9-10 months time and that is the minimum cool down period he can offer based on my interview performance. Google has been my dream and this is my 3rd failed attempt. Hoping to crack it one day.
I heard Google has a limit of the number of times you can interview with them. Heard it's 3 times for engineers. Is that true? Can someone from Google confirm?
Similar situation. I don't know why I never got google. I have gotten pretty much every other company I have applied to, including all the usual top ones. Just not Google. I wonder if there is some criteria fundamentally different.
What level is this for? and what's your current Amazon level?
L5 at Amazon. Considered for L4 in gogole
Why is Google your dream? What do you think you will get there?
Also curious about this. I've been here >5 years. Was was Amazon before.
An orgasm when people ask where (s)he works..
Does cool down period depend on the interview performance?
Atleast thats what the recruiter mentioned.
Why do they call it cool down?
Each stage of the interview turned up the heat a few degrees. You need to cool down so that you don’t overheat.
Keep improving yourself and best of luck for the next time. But also remember that Google is not the be-all and end-all of an engineering career.
Did you have to match a team before HC?
"Google has been my dream" I will never understand how people can have so ridiculous petty dreams. So you realize that you are drinking Into their PR bullshit marketing? Are you interested into their products? Would you feel like you help people working at Google on ads ? Probably not. Maybe reevaluate!
I mean.. there are many people who genuinely love working there. There’s a reason why it’s popular and sought after - sure it’s not good to fetishize companies, but shutting down someone else’s goals doesn’t help. Why are you so pissed and triggered by someone else’s goals?
For every person that enjoys it there there is probably no lesser number of people bored to death. Its just a good company, it grew by a lot. Some of that growth in interesting areas some not so much. I don’t think it carries much different prestige compared to many other tech firms. Chase an interesting role and TC (in that order) and see where you can find it.
Did they ask you to design a data center on Mars?
I was actually asked to do exactly that during an APM on-site years ago. Well, think it was the moon, actually...
Space is the future . But you cannot guarantee CAP
