I’m interviewing with google for a SETI and wondering how’s the headcount situation. There was a hiring surge later last year and I heard that SWE headcount is running low. What about SETI?
Curious why is the SWE headcount low? Is this a longer term thing? Just accepted SRE SWE but was hoping to transfer to SWE in a year if I didn’t like it.
There was this massive expansion of GCP last year I believe
How was the interview for SRE SWE? It's supposed to be identical to SWE interview loop right? 5 LC medium (or maybe a couple of hards) rounds?
Are there L6 SETIs hires externally? Asking because it wouldn’t be worth my time to try for L5 at google since sfdc pays me more than the L5 band.
What's your TC and level at sfdc?

Tons of opening for SETI. In fact, recruiters are suggesting SWE candidates to consider SETI or SRE role because we are running out of SWE headcount.
Thanks for the info! Would this increase the chance of candidate being hired? I just had an onsite and 4 out of the 5 rounds are pretty solid imho, in the other round I completed the problem with some help/guidance from interviewer and ran thru some basic tests. But we went overtime a bit and didn’t have time for other Q&A so I’m a bit worried
I think the bar of SETI is always a little bit lower than SWE. But I'm not sure what if lots of SWE candidates now competing for SETI role. Good luck anyway.
