Google Sunnyvale

Jan 28, 2018 54 Comments

I’m starting soon at the Google Sunnyvale office. I’ve been having trouble finding information about perks and amenities at that location.

How does the office compare to the HQ? What perks does the HQ have that Sunnyvale doesn’t? Does it have a gym? How do the cafeterias compare? What about things like the onsite doctors office? Anything else?

Hahahahhahaha. Dude you are joining an office for work, not choosing a hotel for your vacation. Most people do not have time for these so called perks. So chill down. Sunnyvale office is nice and new and have most of your vacation needs. Don’t worry.

The response from Googlers here is honestly surprising. Seems like people are assuming a lot about OP. Sounds like entitlement has been a growing problem at Google?

If your number one concern about Google is the Perks, you won’t make it past the first year. Focus on how you can contribute and you may last..it is not about you!

It’s not that bad. You have to wait until the ladies are done before you can go

If everyone thinks like this, then there is no meaning for this platform. Someone asks a question and the reply they get it go figure out yourself ! Seriously ? If you can't answer the ops question, then just don't say anything and I think its a fair question to ask!

People now a days are more excited in perks than engineering teams and work at google.
And if you dont understand this frustration of existing engineers then you better not say anything.
      Jan 28, 2018
    • Nutanix gryffo
Its totally unfair to conclude that someone is not excited about engineering just cause they asked a question about perks. I think instead of judging so much, we should answer the question or not at all. Thanks

I keep like 4 sets of gym clothes at work. Way easier to wash then at work than carry home sweaty clothes.

Not a hater. Just genuinely cannot imagine myself hauling loads of dirty clothes to work (kids) to "save time". It takes no time to run it in parallel with any other house chores.
Gym clothes/towel kind of make sense. I

The question you should ask is: will it be noisy?

The answer is yes. It’s noisy everywhere at google.

I believe it's a fair question to ask. A good fraction of wanting to work at Google is to be smothered by it's world class perks. If Sunnyvale office does not provide those perks one would want to know about it.

The new buildings are nice and not infested by visitors. And anyway, the googleplex is just a shuttle ride away

I am curious about perks/facility at mat1/2/3. A drive around did not show much niceties and very utilitarian.
