I passed hiring comittee and spoke to a couple mngrs in GCP. I've been a backend app. engr and want to exlore infra roles. Potential teams: - Kubernetes Build Pipeline & Policy Controller team - Firestore Migration team Which is easier to pick up coming from application space? Are there any red flags on either team? I've heard it takes a long time to get familiar w complex Google codebase. TC/YOE: 3.5 YOE; SWE at LI w/ 230K TC; L4 at Google, expecting 250K TC but haven't gotten offer yet
That shit isnt worth it. Interview at FB and get E5 for TC350.
Jeez really? E5 at 3.5 years of exp? Is it because OP is linkedin?
Agree, prob wouldn't pass E5 interviews. I have a friend at FB who works on the weekend a lot of times so didn't apply to FB b/c I like WLB. Also want to be in SF, not Penninsula.
Any bump is a good bump to google, especially coming from LI. Most people from LI -> google get down leveled because LI massively over-inflates titles and comp. Congrats on the offer, you’ll do great
I agree that LI Sr. SWE title is inflated. And Google L4 is the right level for me. Ty @wemi22!!

Biden ruined America and tech! Tax plans are insane
not worth the jump given low bump.
For context I'm not necessarily moving for comp. There's location change South Bay Area -> Downtown San Fran, apps -> infra, learning new tech, etc.
