Google Technical Phone Interview

Y.O.E 2.5

I have the intial phone interview this week.
I’m self taught; so over those 2 years I’ve been focused on Angular, .Net Core, and all the fun stuff in Azure.

The big stresser that I’m having is that from my research these interviews are Data Structures and Algorithm heavy.

Any suggestions?

I don’t feel like I’m ready.
I’ve been losing sleep on this thing.

From the email it seems like it has to be an emergency to reschedule

It's ok to ask. They will do it. It's common.

Never schedule your first interview with the company you want to work for.

Will I ever work for the company I want to work for? 😅

If this is your first initial phone screening you will just be talking about yourself to a recruiter, if the phone screening is technical then you need to reschedule it and say that you need time to practice

Leetcode style. I'd focus on trees first, then graphs, then recursion.

Thanks I really needed this. I was all over the place with my studying/practicing. Didn’t know where to start just trying to get a ground understanding of all the Data structures and algorithms topics.

There are some curated lists of leetcode problems, try looking there. There is also a top 100 interview questions for Google specifically - but you have to pay for them. I didnt so that, I think the generic ones are good enough.

Reschedule and don’t worry. Just message saying “I need X more time to prepare”. Recruiter wants you to pass not interview faster :)

Thanks for the feedback. Didn’t want to blow my chances. I’ll sure be in a better place with more time

Don’t waste the chance! Don’t take the interview now.
Postpone it to a month later. Recruiters usually don’t have problems with that.
