Google Tokyo vs Google Singapore
I’m curently in Google MTV and need to relocate due to visa issue. I’m considering Google Singapore and Tokyo. Does anyone have any experiences with either office wrt projects, growth, quality of life, etc..
Tokyo
Tokyo is very tricky if you are not Japanese, and it is hard to fit in the city. Also I believe Tokyo’s office is amazing, you need to consider the city. For expats, Singapore wins hands down. On the other hand, you should probably ditch both and go with a safer option, and that is Zurich.
I wish. Unfortunately Zurich has a 1 year tenure requirement which I don’t meet. About Tokyo, I’m asian but not Japanese. Does it help or make it worse?
Are you used to Japanese culture? It does not matter where you are from but where you were raised most of your life. IMO, most people who say Japan is amazing is not wrong, but Japan is amazing to visit as a tourist, living there is tricky. For your case, I’d stay for 1 year in London/Dublin/Munich/Paris then re assess the situation.
speaks japanese then tokyo. speaks hindi or chinese then singapore
Unless you speak Japanese, living/fitting into Tokyo will be quite difficult... I would go with Singapore.

Singapore also has low income tax compared to Tokyo's high taxation Singapore also somewhat cheaper if you want to live like western

You will suffer from boredom in Singapore
Can someone explain what they mean by "Tokyo culture" and "fitting in"? Is it like a lack of meritocracy or a strong sense of Confuscian values? Or that everyone drops subtle hints when they hate you.
