I just got the good news that I made it past the HC and now I’ll have to do team matching. There is currently an opening role within the Google Search team but I don’t think it is a good fit for me. Are any of you familiar with that team and what an UXE does there? - What are the teams that could have some more focus on WebGL and WebXR, 3D for the web, and less classic UI (CSS, JS, HTML). Have you heard of any? Daydream seems like the only team that I can think of. - The recruiter gave me two solutions, I can accept to do team matching with the the Google Search team knowing that the focus will be more of CSS, JS and HTML and I don’t think anything WebGL related is on their plates, or I could wait until a role with some more hybrids WebGL/JS/CSS/HTML needs shows up. It can take up to a few months. - Once you’ve made it past the HC how long can you expect the team matching process to last? Is their some sort of expiration time? - What do think? should I just take the Search Opportunity and look internally to change team later on. Or should I wait for the recruiter to send me a better team. That matches more with what I do and I’m best at.
You run the risk of not getting an offer down the line. There’s no guarantee your dream team will have an opening or an influx of potentially better for candidates take open spots later in the process. If you want to join google take it or if you’re ok with possibly ending up with nothing roll the dice.
@bob_swan! Yes to tell you the truth I don’t get it too. It is a really confusing process and it is clearly not helping anyone to just randomly have to do team matching that late in the interview process. @Carmine yes that is the dilemma I’m facing too. I could also maybe just wait for the next few openings since they seems to be nothing else but the google search spot, I’m sure some other roles will be opening soon in different teams? I’m also thinking about talking to the team and hear what they say, try to understand better how I could potentially find an opportunity to be using my skills in their team.

Goog Employees Arrested
I can't help you, but I find this hiring method to be so dumb (I got half way through with GCP until a shitty 1-yr Googler interview ruined it). So you passed all the tests and never interviewed with an actual hiring manager and now your possible Google future depends on possibly joining a team you don't want to join and working for a manager you never met or interviewed with. I don't get how this is a successful model.
