I wouldn't be too happy if I were a Google employee...I don't think this was a good purchase.

Unless you are recruited recently, otherwise 7.35/50 do the math

Accurate, even the 52 week high is fairly close to the buy price, hardly anyone is doubling their stock comp

    • Fitbit gfrog
I would say even without Google the stock will back up again at least to 6. Fuck google, fuck everyone

    • This just in, Fitbit is another tool to geotrack and biotrack your every move in the attempt to get more info on users for ads.

These fitness things and smart watches are dead technology. Google themselves don't give a shit about smart watches. Just look at their own watch OS it's a piece of shit

https://github.com/facebook/hhvm Hack and its runtime are open source and not proprietary. Hack itself is heavily based on PHP and HHVM ran straight PHP at one point.

Agreed - Smart watches are meh cause every one has an Apple / Samsuck watch. If you have to wear one, get a good mechanical watch.

    • Adobe if ()?x:y;
They still get Google employee branding from outside world perspective. This could help with external interviews later.
      Nov 2
    • No the Fitbit employees will not get interviewed. That happens with aquihire, not for this kind of acquisitions

Oxford is one of the best health insurance out there. Regular UHC is ok, on par with Cigna. Horizon BCBS is pretty good consistently. The office I worked out was out of network with Aetna, so can’t comment on them. There was a lady with amazingly good coverage from Aetna. Her policy was old though, so probably grandfathered in or just rewards for loyalty. My current dental plan is through them though and it’s decent.

Comparing insurance companies is worse than comparing cell phone companies. There are too many variables. Unlike cell phone companies that have different prices, insurance company plans when presented side by side from the same employer are basically identical.

Every insurance company is a ripoff. It’s just the same No matter what fucking company you deal with. CVS employee here (where we are managed by Aetna d.heads who came via acquisition). Venting out !!!

Why would anyone want to acquire FitBit anyway? It has been seeming to be more dead than alive for the last couple of years... I bet Google will chew patents and R&D out of it, and spit the rest within 12 months.

It was acquired by alphabet not Google. Do it must be lary not sundar.

It’s all about the data, and extending Google Home to wearables.

This is good for both Google, and FitBit employees—who may not have ever cleared the Google bar.

Actually, the google employees are becoming FitBit employees
      Nov 2
    • It’s an acquisition so they will become google employees but I don’t know what is this obsession with being a google employee
      Nov 2
    • Facebook xMnx1
If they are merged, they will have to go through an interview process. Lighter weight interview in comparison to external candidates. So no guarantees. Speaking as an exGoogler.

    • eBay tysonlee
I heard that too, does google interview all employees? Tech, non tech both?

I would like to know a few things:

    Any employees losing their job?
    Severance?
Will you stay in same building but start to get google perks etc?
    Any other upside?
