I received a call from a recruiter (a year ago) for Sales engineer role at google. I have postpone it due to lack of confidence and took time for GCP certification as Cloud Architect. I am yet to give the exam (scheduled for first week of June 2019). Anyone gave SAles engineer or customer engineer role interview at Google or know someone who did? Can you answer these questions, please. 1. Do I need to prepare on data structures / algorithms / coding related? I have not coded for over 5 years. Does this role need technical deep dive and will coding be part of interview process? 2. I have 12 years of IT experience with give or take 6 years of pre-sales engagement experience. What is the TC expected for this position and experience? Thank you for your reply.
They’ll ask technical questions related to cloud architecture, but not really around data structures/algorithms. You are expected to be able to create solutions through programming though, so if you haven’t programmed anything recently you’ll struggle if you make it to the on-site. TC is on the sales ladder, which means slightly higher cash bonuses, but generally significantly less stock. In general, it’s typically L - 1 for TC compared to a SWE role. Thank you for quick reply.. do you know what level of depth in solutions your expected to create? For instance: deploy Kubernetes application with load balancing or infrastructure as a code deployment? I have looked into various solutions architecture on the google page. Is there a link or range you have for L1 as I am not sure of it? Will professional solutions Architect certification make a difference?
Certifications won’t matter. You’ll have to code as prep for be interview for the case study but the interview itself doesn’t have coding/algorithm questions. It’s more solution architecture and design and more relevant to the SE role of interacting with clients, building a demo and presenting on it
It's a significantly easier interview than swe.
Can you please share your interview experience? How was the RRK interview?
