Google doesn't a have deadline for the interviewer to write a feedback?

I had an on-site interview at Google a month ago. The recruiter says one of the interviewers has not submitted feedback inspite of 4 reminders, so she can't proceed. I wonder what the interviewer would remember after 4 weeks? Aren't interviewers answerable within a deadline. How does a company like Google tolerate such incompetence? That one interviewer didn't only waste my day but also 5 hours of Google employees time that the other interviewers spent interviewing me. What happens to the candidature in such cases?

Pocket veto?

Yes maybe he got pissed with me disagreeing on the veracity of one of his complexity order claims

No hard deadlines.

Google vqsx26 Feb 1, 2019

No hard deadlines, but they are encouraged to provide feedback asap

Google EKAB20 Feb 1, 2019

Yeah no hard deadlines, but the recruiter and the system still start reminding after a week or so.

Can the interviewer choose not to respond ever?

Google EKAB20 Feb 1, 2019

I doubt. At worst, I guess they'll go ahead with the rest of the feedback and decide. But this is just a guess. Don't worry, often times the interviewer might write notes on a scratch pad doc and then formalize it. He won't miss much in his feedback if this is the case.

There are automated emails to nag and the recruiter would usually ping as well. But that's a general problem in Google recruiting: Interviews are almost like a community service that some people don't treat seriously

Google COm451 Feb 1, 2019

Right, because there is no perf, promo, or any other actual incentive to interview. If the company doesn't treat it seriously, why should individual employees?

Our recruiting process is a flaming bag of poop. Sorry.

Interviewers are doing it FOR FREE. Doing the interview has absolutely zero impact on their perf. So why should they be responsive? Of course recruiter can nag manager of the interviewer that usually would work. But feedback would be likely more negative that way.

Google PoohHead Feb 1, 2019

-1. It's part of their job, and they should do it well. This is an incredibly naive statement about how perf is assessed. I hope I never have to manage you.

Oh you are the manager. Got it.

While interview is a community service, most 95% of interviewers write thorough feedback and submit in less than a week. Speaking from reading 100+ feedback and writing 50+ feedback. And recruiter or hc should escalate in this case.
