Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Got a thumbs up from HC. Team matching is done. SVP in progress. Expecting to receive numbers soon. SWE position in MV. Recruiter said Google’s base is typically low. I’ve been at Apple for 2 years and overall 8 yrs experience. Already know Apple lowballed me when I was hired. Just want to make sure it doesn’t happen again! Current TC at Apple: ~210 ($145 base). Performance reviews are coming up so the number will go higher. What’s a reasonable expectation I should have from Google? Thanks,
8 yr exp, 210k TC?
This is why you should do negotiations over email. Keep future conversations on email.
Let them come up.with the numbers...tell them u need time to decide...discuss the same here..and then get back to them...
145 base?! It's 5k above the entry phd salary at Apple... Did you talk to your manager? 8 yrs exp should be around 170k base and a bit less in stock dep on perfs
Wow 210 is laughable for 8 years experience at Apple. Yelp offered 200k for 6 years experience without even negotiating. You should be closer to 260-300 comp
It’s 2 years at Apple. 8 total. But yeah. I know they lowballed me
U should be at least 300k TC
I wish you were on the hiring committee! Unfortunately, I wasn’t actually looking to change jobs and just responded to a google recruiter message. In the middle I did apply to Uber for competing offers but Uber is soooooo slow!! It’s been more than a month and I’m still waiting for the phone screen!!! If G tries to lowball, then I won’t go. Simple as that. I’m quite happy where I am. So why go from one shitty pay to another 😂😂
G always lowball that’s why Uber will be a good competing offer if u manage to get offers from both and use it for negotiating with G. Go try other preIPO startups, they seem to offer much higher in the base, which makes ur TC up easily, also, again, for negotiation purposes
The average Software Engineer salary at Google in the Bay Area is $281K per year, ranging from $229K to $335K (even their lowest is higher than what you have with Apple). Just like the recruiter said, their Base Salaries are not very high. However, here's what the TC looks like on average: - Base Salary $135K - Annual Bonus $34K - Annual Equity $111K - One-Time Signing Bonus $33K Note that the average Base ranges from $120K to $151K (higher in a few cases). You have 8 years of experience, I'd say you should expect something between Google's average and Google's high market salary ($281K - $335K). Here's the data source: https://goo.gl/ZmVwhT
Thanks! That was very useful. I’ll hopefully have some numbers by the end of the week.
