Does Google still ask interviewee to estimate “how many windows in Mountain View” type of Fermi questions for analytical interview? This is for hw tpm. thanks for helping in advance.
Which team?
I had an interview earlier this year for a Product Manager role where I was asked estimation questions by 3 different interviewers so I wouldn’t assume you won’t get asked to estimate something. Could be different for analytical roles but the intent behind these questions seems relevant to most roles. FWIW, these are all Fermi approximation problems and can be answered using that framework.
I assume the questions are google product related? or are they random?
Tech and vaguely Google related. Nothing as random as number of dolphins in the ocean but definitely topics where you wouldn’t know the answer and the topics were wide enough that studying facts wouldn’t help. I know there seems to be a lot of uncertainty about these questions but they really aren’t difficult if you apply the framework. The key is to practice asking yourself what data you would need to answer the question. That will help you breakdown the problem into manageable chunks so you can get to an estimate quickly.

Is it true many Indian couples are in sexless marriage?
These are called estimation or guesstimation questions. I don't think Google asks these anymore for analytical positions.
