Google lowballing with level

Secured an L3 offer from Google. YOE ~6 years.
I have couple good offers for L4 or equivalent level and few other interviews in pipeline.
AFAIK L3 is given to a graduate just out of school at Google?

Has anyone been able to convince Google to match the level? How?
Is Google brand worth to join in at L3?
From what I have learnt getting promoted to L4 will be a multi year process. I fear this all will hurt my career progress.

Turn it down. These dipshits are doing this a lot lately. They think that a level there is one or two higher than everywhere else. I saw one person at 8 yoe got L3. They are also lowballing on compensation.

but you dont even know what the offer is. Infact, there is a lot of info you are missing. They've been offered an L3 position, that is not the end of the world. Maybe its time for the op to re-evaluate and reflect on why they were offered L3? If they don't want to work at Google because they have been offered L3, maybe its time to reflect on why they want to work at Google. Maybe they should communicate that with Google. Don't apply somewhere if you don't want to work there, or even worst work there for the money or title.

They leveled the person as ncg. That person needs to decide whether they are ok drinking enough koolaid to tolerate that or not. Im just sayin’ i wouldn’t.

I wouldn’t take it. They obviously don’t appreciate you. I don’t care what the offer is, you don’t make someone with 6 years of experience a L3. It is unacceptable!

lol at the entitlement. If you want appreciation, work smarter or join a startup.

L3 is an insult at 6 years of experience. I wouldn’t take the deal. Doesn’t matter if it’s google or some other company.

Well, I agree to a certain extent. If you don’t have a job or if your pay is super low, you need to take it. Otherwise, look for a company that values your career growth. Otherwise, L3 is a very low point and isn’t considered moving up IMHO.

I got L4 with 4 yoe. However, I have managed teams at smaller companies. I also solved 2-3 problems in my interviews, which probably helped.

I am the loser that accepted L3 with 6 yoe. I got promoted within 6 months though. It was easy because expectations are set against new grads.

Wow that’s awesome. Glad it worked out for you.
From what I learnt probability of this happening is really low. 3 months is just for ramp-up?
Anything in particular that helped your case?

Promo depends very much on the manager. I came in with 3 yoe and have only gotten shitty cleanup projects which even my manager says won't get me promoted. Wish i had taken that sde2 at aws...

Yeah definitely depends on manager and org politics (there may be people “ahead” of you. BS happened to me).

There is a luck factor in it. TL of the project left and I picked up the project.

I can't believe they made you go through the longest interview process in the industry just to give you an L3 offer. I'm starting to lose respect for that company.

We by far don't have the longest interview process on the industry. I've had longer elsewhere.

I would ask them if you could get an interview for L4, communicate to them your concerns. If you're worried about career growth and there is nothing they can do to help you then politely turn them down.
