How is Google networking and infra under Amin Vahdat compared to Azure networking? I feel many decisions in Azure Networking are not tech based. Often managers with little or no background in networking make the final calls and it is hard to argue with them.
Azure Networking definitely has its share of problems, but at least it's a mature product with a real customer base. Be careful of GCP networking - it's riddled with infighting between the cloud networking people and the general networking groups - too many PhDs with big ideas, too little clear direction. Apparently Aaron Ogus round tripped back to MS because it was so bad. Google is pretty amazing at running a big efficient network for their massive internal properties - if you're MS imagine you were dealing with something like Bing but 10x or so. The messy world of cloud and actual IaaS customers, though, is not their strong suit, at least yet. If doing cloud, AWS or Azure are prob higher impact spots to be.

Azure networking is overly complex IMO. Mainly due to technical debt as I understand it. GCP network design is clean and fast. Imagine the picture of the server racks with all the network cables aligned and tied. That’s Google. Imagine the picture that looks like a birds nest. That’s Azure. IMO
