I got an offer for L3 SWE new grad for 108/90 and no sign on in Seattle. I tried to negotiate but recruiter said no dice without competing offers. Is this truly it? Would he compensation team just let me walk if I refused to sign? I'm truly a noob when it comes to negotiating so I really dont know. If you've ever negotiated your way out of something like this I'd like to know.
I have a friend that experienced the same exact thing. They think working at Google is a privilege. Don’t take their offer unless it is actually the best one
Location?
Amazon founding Headquarter.
How is this a lowball offer? What are you comparing it to?
Exactly. It’s not a lowball if it’s your only offer
200k? Straight out of school? Just take it, that is a great offer at a good company
Likely vested over 4 years?
That salary is a lowball depending on what field he is in, and location. If he’s making 109k as a data scientist in San Jose for example then he’s getting royally fucked
Not enough context here. Please post the L level (L3, L4 or etc), your job title and location of the role. Also, by “grad”, do you mean your MBA or Bachelor’s? If you look at other posts you will see that MORE info gets you better replies.
Just take the offer, learn and work your way up. Or bounce and join FB or LinkedIn for massive TC and good wlb.
Good WLB? LinkedIn? Yes Facebook? No
Truu
They will put you on the bench for 6 months or so trying to find a team match. Use that time to get competing offers.
Google lowballs today, it's true. So just get competing offers, what's the problem? You cleared G interview already, clear a few others
No competing offers, very little you can do.
You can always say no, it’s not like he has zero leverage.
I wouldn't exactly call that leverage for a new college grad though. more like self harm.
